The Cost of Political Theater

Gemini said

"Laughable" is honestly the perfect word for it, if it weren't so exhausting. The local political scene has always had a flair for the dramatic, but lately, it feels like the scriptwriters have completely lost the plot. It genuinely plays out more like a primetime telenovela than actual governance.

Just look at the sheer chaos breaking out recently. We have literal gunshots and a lockdown at the Senate because an ICC arrest warrant is closing in on top officials, a sudden leadership coup unseating the Senate President, and the House fast-tracking impeachment articles against the Vice President. All of that in a span of one week. It’s wild because while the top leaders are locked in this intense, bitter feud, the rest of the country is out here dealing with a massive energy crisis, crazy high heat indices, and soaring fuel prices.

It’s completely valid to feel disappointed. When politics becomes more about self-preservation, finger-pointing, and theatrical standoffs than actually solving public struggles, it’s hard not to look at it with a mix of exhaustion and cynical amusement.

Putang ina nyo kasing mga DDS kayo eh.
