SmartTubeNext v30.98​

SmartTubeNext is an open-source, ad-free YouTube client specifically designed for Android TV and media boxes. It is not a "YouTube TV" client or a live TV provider.

Core Features​

• Picture-in-Picture (PiP): Supports background playback and PiP mode (Enable via Settings > General > Background playback).
• Variable Playback Speed: Adjustable via the gauge icon in the player; settings persist across videos.
• Account Sync: Full subscription and history syncing via Google Account.

Connectivity and Casting​

Casting requires manual linking via TV code as the app does not broadcast via mDNS/SSID automatically.

1. TV: Settings > Remote control to generate a code.
2. Mobile Device: YouTube App Settings > General > Watch on TV > Connect using TV-code.
3. Note: SmartTubeNext must be open on the TV to receive a cast signal.

Voice Search Integration (Bridge Apps)​

Global voice search requires the removal of the stock YouTube app and the installation of a specific "Bridge" app to intercept system intents.

Tablet Interface & Navigation​

• Developer Options: If the device lacks a hardware back button, enable "Back Button" overlays via Android Developer Options.
