PHThese .bin files are MediaTek Download Agents (DA). A DA is a small “service agent” uploaded to the phone when it’s in MediaTek USB download mode (BootROM/Preloader mode). The DA is what allows a PC tool to communicate with the device for servicing actions (device probing, storage init, partition operations, etc.).
Where to use the DA file
- Penumbra (Antumbra): provide the DA via the tool’s DA/--da option when launching/working with the device.
- mtkclient: use it in the DA loading/DA selection step (when the tool asks for a DA/agent for the target).
- SP Flash Tool (SPFT): set it in the Download Agent field (the DA selector) before performing operations.
