you can manage the security risk by fencing these things off your home lan, i.e. internet access only. the risk with the "generic" android boxes is they can stop working and there's not much you can do about it. performance is also hit-or-miss. malalaman mo na lang when you use it.

as for the original question, ano ba'ng issue with your smart tv? doesn't have specific apps? poor performance? no more updates? kung me pagkukulang, baka ang sagot nga ay set top box... something like the google tv streamer 4k would serve you well.

sulit naman yung Mi TV Box 3rd Gen ko. Pero kung nagagamit pa naman yung smart TV to download yung mga kailangan mong apps like netflix, youtube, etc, no need to upgrade.
