Romualdez previously vowed to push for the restoration of the program’s budget after the Senate defunded it, insisting that the project has already benefited 4 million Filipinos. Senator Imee Marcos, sponsor of the DSWD budget in the upper chamber, moved to delete the provision for AKAP entirely back in November, in hopes to realign the budget to another agency program, the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
