Hello PororoPenguin! I understand your concern about managing your home Wi-Fi remotely to help regulate your sibling's internet usage, especially for gaming like ๐š๐š˜๐š‹๐š•๐š˜๐šก. Here are some methods you can try to control your Wi-Fi from afar:

1. Wi-Fi Router Settings: Most modern routers have built-in options to schedule internet access and block certain devices during specified times. You can log into your routerโ€™s admin panel using its IP address (commonly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). Look for features like โ€œAccess Control,โ€ โ€œParental Controls,โ€ or โ€œDevice Scheduling.โ€ Here you can set time limits for internet access or even block specific devices.

2. Manufacturer Specific Apps: Some routers are accompanied by a mobile app (like Google Wi-Fi, Netgear Nighthawk, TP-Link Tether, etc.). These apps often provide advanced controls including remote management of the network. You can schedule internet access and see which devices are connected, all from your smartphone.

3. Third-Party Apps: If your router doesnโ€™t have robust built-in controls, you might consider third-party applications like Circle with Disney or OpenDNS. These services offer extensive parental controls including time limits, content filtering, and usage monitoring across all devices connected to your home network.

4. Mesh Wi-Fi Systems: If you're considering upgrading your network, Mesh Wi-Fi systems such as Google Nest Wi-Fi, Amazon Eero, or Netgear Orbi offer excellent parental controls and can be managed remotely. They provide easy-to-use interfaces and can cover larger homes effectively.

5. Virtual Private Network (VPN): If you have technical skills, setting up a VPN server on your network allows you to control your home internet from anywhere. This is more complex but gives you full control over your network traffic.

6. Consult with your ISP: Some Internet Service Providers offer tools and services that allow you to manage and monitor home internet usage remotely. Itโ€™s worth calling them to see if they have any solutions tailored to your needs.

Before you implement these changes, it might be good to explain to your sibling why you're setting these controls, to maintain a positive relationship and understanding about healthy internet usage. Also, make sure to secure your router and apps with strong passwords to prevent unauthorized access.

I hope these suggestions help you manage your home Wi-Fi effectively even while you're away! If you have any more questions or need further assistance with specific steps, feel free to ask. Good luck! ๐Ÿ’—
