I have a question about mixing different brands of NVMe M.2 drives. After I installed a Kingston NV2, my boot-up time increased significantly to about 20 seconds, when it used to take only 5-7 seconds. I am using a Crucial P1 500GB for my OS and a Kingston 1TB NV2 for storage on an MSI B450 Mortar board. Every time I boot up, my Debug LED gets stuck on GPU, but when I tested the GPU on another PC, it worked perfectly. I'm not sure what to do next.

It seems like you are experiencing some issues with your system booting up after installing a new Kingston NV2 NVMe M.2 drive alongside your existing Crucial P1 drive. Here are some possible reasons for the increased boot-up time and the Debug LED getting stuck on GPU:

1. Incompatibility between NVMe drives: Mixing different brands of NVMe drives can sometimes lead to compatibility issues. Different drives may have different firmware, controllers, or other hardware components that could cause conflicts.

2. BIOS settings: Make sure that your BIOS settings are properly configured to support multiple NVMe drives. Sometimes, adjusting settings related to storage devices in the BIOS can help with compatibility issues.

3. Driver conflicts: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for both your NVMe drives. Sometimes outdated drivers or conflicting drivers can cause performance issues.

4. GPU-related issue: The fact that the Debug LED gets stuck on GPU during boot-up could indicate a GPU-related issue. This may be unrelated to the NVMe drives. You could try reseating the GPU, checking the power connections, or updating the GPU drivers to see if that resolves the problem.

5. Testing components: Since your GPU works fine in another PC, it's possible that the issue lies with the motherboard or other components in your system. You could try testing different combinations of components or swapping out certain parts to identify the root cause of the boot-up issue.

6. Check for firmware updates: Ensure that both your motherboard and NVMe drives have the latest firmware updates installed. Manufacturers frequently release updates to address compatibility issues and improve performance.

7. Consult manufacturer support: If you've tried troubleshooting on your own and are still experiencing issues, consider reaching out to the manufacturer's support for your NVMe drives, GPU, and motherboard. They may have specific recommendations or solutions tailored to your setup.

In conclusion, the issues you are facing could be due to a variety of factors, including compatibility issues, settings configurations, driver conflicts, or hardware problems. By systematically troubleshooting each potential cause, you may be able to identify and resolve the issue affecting your system's boot-up time.

mixing brands has nothing to do with it. its just a storage. pero alam ko yang problema mo. faulty SSD yan. error LED ON + long time booting. failing yung SSD mo. sooner or later. hindi na yan ma dedetect ng PC. e test mo yan SSD sa ibang PC.

Bumalik yung ganon bagal ng boot up.

this i dont know how.

you mean nka salpak na yung bago mong SSD at smooth pa boot up? bumagal lng nung nag install kna ng adrenalin? i doubt thats the cause. ksi ang purpose ng POST is to make sure every hardware is fine before the PC boots up. kung matagal mag boot ang PC at may LED error. means something is wrong physically.

post pcie scan

need to remember pcie lanes ang ginagamit ng nvme and hindi na sata lanes guess what else gumagamit ng pcie lanes
GPU

more pcie lanes used more time needed for system scan specially if limited yung pcie lanes ng mobo mo

pero this doesn't rule out if my defect or pagit yung controller nung 2nd ssd since post slow down is senyas ng ganyan

try mo gawing boot yung bagong ssd gawa ka partition lagyan mo os then tignan mo post speed ng magisa sya to make sure

tandaan mo rin na yung cruxial p1 is my dram so mas mabilisnsya mg post scan kysa sa nv2 na walang dram

pano to? i mean scan talaga?

what i mean is everytime na mag boot ka ng system ng scascan sya ng pcie lanes in post

if my beep speaker yung motherboard mo ito yung time na parang wala sya ginagawa bago mag beep

then its normal
since dalawana nvme mo dalawang scan na gagawin nya
if gusto mo makuha yun dati mong boot speed

other than that live with it like seriously 20 second is very minimal para sa boot time
now if 20 mins then my malaking problema but 20 seconds no

if gusto mo lightning fast as in wala pang 1 sec yung boot mo then i on mo yung hybrid sleep ng pc mo
then i setup mo na yun yung gawin nya pag pinindot mo yung power button sa power setting

kase right now there is no problem here

oh now i na intindihan ko na! thank you!

UPDATE!

Hello, I'm back!!!

User problem pala to sorry na agad haha

Walang issue yung new m2 haha ako yung may issue lol

:FeelsSadMan:

till next time!

its very normal na mg slowdown yung boot if 2 nvme mo specially if mobo is hybrid pcie yung 2nd slot (as in if nasa description is sata# disable if 2nd nvme is used which means sata lane conversion in cpu) more on what nvme will trigger it ang tanong dito

best way na ma experience to is with using gigabyte aorus 4 nvme na ng pcie saturation test on post so with a 2nd nvme post slows

pero ang weird sa system nya is if hidden yung hdd
since faulty

dont tell me na walang post beep yung msi for storage problem?
