You can bypass that by doing the following:

1. First, log in to your own personal Google Drive.
2. Go back to the file you want to download
3. Right click on it then select "Make a copy". This action will make a copy of the shared file to your own personal Google Drive.
4. Go to your Google Drive and find the "Copy of..."
5. Download.
