No one knew more than King Solomon, one of the richest men to ever live, how impossible it is for silver, gold, and all the things money can buy to satisfy one's soul. It is the very things that many cannot buy and that only God can give that are the most precious, most satisfying gifts of all.
Lord, you are the giver of true riches that money could never buy. Only you can give peace, joy, love, faith, and all of the fruits of the Spirit. And when we give up worldly possessions and comforts for the sake of advancing your Kingdom, we know you will reward us, either in this life or in the next. Help us to value the true and eternal riches more highly than the passing and deceitful riches of earth. Amen.
