Ituloy ko lang yung isang thread in the past:
https://phcorner.org/threads/comput...and-everything-you-need-to-know-part1.723794/
I started computerchess last 2004 and retired on 2014; been a part of chess engine development and testing 24/7. It's an expensive hobby for addicts like me he he due to keeping up with the hardware requirements and non-stop cpu usage. So just use it as needed. The best part is enjoying the rewards of winning or losing, especially in World competitions using hardware and software against the best in the world. Yet, this is still an addon to train the human brain to play chess better. A new generation of chess players already took advantage of this, including YOU if you try.
I'll just provide the basics that I missed in Part 1.
Computerchess needs an interface/GUI, a chess program/engine, and chess accessories. Examples of GUIs are given in Part 1 but the most common free software is Arena GUI: You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. . Chess engine on the other hand are divided in two most commonly used protocols, Winboard and UCI to communicate with the GUI. Utilities and accessories are GUI+chess engine related like engine protocol adapters, opening books, chess game databases (like pgn, scid...), endgame databases/tablebases/bitbases/generators, elo raters, tournament managers, book maker/converter/adapter...an endless line of options for the user either commercially available or free. Chessbase provides their propriety softwares like Chessbase, Fritz, etc...Others are Chess Assistant, Lokasoft's Chess Partner, ChessOK Aquarium....
Before starting on this hobby, it is a must to understand the basics on how we utilize available chess softwares related to this technology, or else find an AIO chess application to play online or offline.
Give time to visit, read, study, and be involved on these links.
This is just a continuation for those who already know about chess and wants to take advantage of learning more using available technology like the common desktop PC. I'll just add options for mobile devices upon request as I don't use them at present. Sorry!
