If you plan on heading to Kaybiang Tunnel to stop and take picture, now you can't.

Log in or register now., Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla announced that Kaybiang Tunnel will be a “No Tourism Zone” starting Friday, March 19. The announcement comes after the local government unit (LGU) received numerous complaints regarding traffic in the area, the amount of garbage, as well as reports of scuffles between tourists.

Furthermore, thousands of cyclists, motorcycle riders, and vehicles stop, park, and even block the road to take photos of the tunnel and scenic backdrops. This has resulted in traffic bottlenecks at both ends of the tunnel.

Starting March 19, the parking of vehicles, eating, taking selfies, and loitering will be banned in the vicinity of Kaybiang Tunnel. Bike riders will not be allowed to use the tunnel for leisure purposes as well. Subsequently, blowing of horns while inside the tunnel will also be prohibited. To ensure that the new policy is implemented, police checkpoints will be placed in Tanza, Naic, Maragondon, and Ternate.

Kaybiyang Tunnel became a popular tourist destination for cyclists, motorcycle riders, and motorists last year after a more relaxed form of community quarantine was introduced in the province. As a result, the area has been become packed with locals and tourists alike during weekends.

Those that head out to Kaybiang Tunnel for leisure won't be too happy with Gov. Remulla's new announcement. But, at least we can be sure that the area won't be abused too much and will remain beautiful even in the future.
