When we talk about performance pick-up trucks, one of the first models that come to mind is the Ford Ranger Raptor. But, don't you sometimes wish Ford built a version of the Ranger Raptor that wasn't meant for Baja or off-road? Instead, a truck that could go fast on the circuits or even on a spirited drive? It seems the automaker did exactly that with the new Ranger MS-RT.

Instead of an off-road trail, the Ranger MS-RT is a performance pick-up truck that would feel more at home on the race track and twisty roads. Just like the Ranger Raptor, it uses a 2.0-liter bi-turbo engine producing 213 PS and 500 Nm torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission from the Mustang has been fitted, sending power to all four wheels.

While the engine remains unchanged, the Ranger MS-RT does come with a Maxhaust app-controlled exhaust system to give owners a sportier soundtrack.

Even though the Ranger MS-RT has the same heart as the Raptor, it is based on the Ranger Wildtrak. As a result, it still uses leaf springs instead of coils as found in the Raptor. While it does limit its performance on the track, this means it can still haul cargo like any other pick-up truck. Ford says the towing capacity is rated at 3,500 kg, and the maximum payload weight is at 1,098 kg.

To give the Ranger a sportier look, the MS-RT features a unique body kit. The front fascia receives a new honeycomb grille paired with a sportier-looking bumper. Though it's hard to tell, the fenders have also been widened to fit the 20-inch OZ Racing wheels. A set of side skirts and carbon fiber mirror caps complete the exterior makeover.

Ford also made changes to the interior of the MS-RT. The cabin is lined with premium leather contrast with orange stitching and features ambient lighting, heated seats, and Ford's SYNC3 infotainment system. MS-RT details can also be found all around the interior.

As cool as the Ranger MS-RT is, it is a European exclusive model. The odds of it being offered in the Philippines are slim to none.
