Google was actually founded in September 4, 1998 by two Stanford University Ph.D. students; Larry Page and Sergey Brin, but for some unclear reasons the company chooses to celebrate its "birthday" every 27th of September.
Initially, the two founders decided to name Google as BackRub because the system checks backlinks to make estimations of how important certain sites are. Later on, they came up with the term "Google" as a result of a creative misspelling of the word, 'googol', which was supposed to signify that the search engine will be able to provide massive quantities of information.
**This is based on my own research. Let me know kung may mali. Happy Birthday nga pala sa lahat ng may Birthday ngayon!
