Globe Telecom is now offering voLTE feature on both Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers!
As the name suggests, Voice over LTE happens when your carriers allows you to place a phone call over your LTE connection instead of the more common voice networks. When you are on a call with someone else who is using VoLTE, you immediately notice the difference in call quality on both ends. You'll also notice calls connect faster if you are calling someone near you, and while that's not a feature worth bragging about, it's a cool thing to test for yourself.
VoLTE enables what's called high definition (HD) voice calling. It's hard to quantify the higher quality of these calls, but they are a significant improvement over traditional calls made via cellular networks. There is, however, a catch. To make an HD voice call, you need to use a phone that supports VoLTE, in an area with 4G LTE service, and the person on the other end must also meet the same requirements. Since HD calling utilizes the data network, you might assume that your HD voice minutes affect your data allotment. Fortunately, that's not the case. The networks are smart enough to identify voice packets, and they don't lump them into your data usage which means it's FREE!
To access these feature, go to mobile setting on your phone and activate 4G first followed by voLTE. Make sure your phone runs the latest OS version. That's it guys!
