MAKE IT WITH YOU (2020)
Billy (Liza Soberano) is not your typical Filipino worker in Croatia. She’s living in a small mobile home along with eight other foreign workers as she juggles different kinds of jobs to be able to send money home and also help out her fellow Filipinos there in Dubrovnik. Being incredibly resourceful, Billy had the sneakiest idea to get involve with the culture of matchmaking in Croatia just so she can regularly go on dates to get free meals she can take home and gifts she can sell for more income. In one of her side-hustle, Billy stumbles upon Gabo (Enrique Gil)—another seemingly soul lost in the Croatian borders. She can’t imagine how a naïve-looking guy like him could endure the life every OFW has to go through to survive, but she cannot shake Gabo as he doesn’t want to go back to the Philippines. She can see his determination to do all he can to be able to stay. An opportunity for an extra income arrives when Antonia, a Croatian socialite, asks Billy to match her with Gabo. He must be trained to become a man of great respect that a Croatian girl would love—so Antonia can introduce him to her father. Gabo doesn’t believe in matchmaking, but eventually agrees to do it when he realizes Billy is doing it to help out everyone, including him. The two visit different places in Croatia as they familiarize themselves in the culture. Billy attempts to train Gabo, leading them to getting to know each other more. Billy is grounding Gabo with reality while he inspires her to dream. They even create a masterpiece of a pudding bread together. Needless to say, they begin to develop feelings for each other and more. Everything seems perfect—until Antonia does something to trigger for Gabo to run away and go back to the Philippines. No goodbyes, no words. Billy waited, but never heard anything from Gabo again which gets her heart broken.
