Every day we do little things that destroy the environment, and every day we get the privilege of reversing our wrongdoings. As students, we can You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. in our own, little ways.

Since we are unaware of how these daily routines impact that environment, we tend to continue it—worse, we pass these habits to other people.

From the moment we wake up, brush our teeth, take a bath, eat breakfast, and go to school, we do things that significantly hurt the environment.

Plastic and Paper Usage - Look at your things. Your clothes, your school supplies; look at the things you cannot live without. They hurt the environment. Why? They contain plastic. They ARE plastic.

School Supplies - paper, notebooks, ballpen (made of plastic), bags (still made out of plastic, at least a proportion—polypropylene and/or polyester)
Basic/Daily Necessities - toothbrush & toothpaste, cosmetics and hair tools, shampoo/conditioner, etc. Our daily usage/consumption of these does harm the environment. These products are made up of harmful chemicals that drain away as water waste, and are contained in plastic packagings. Too much plastic usage is and will always be harmful to the environment.
The most common & widely disposed pollutant is plastic. Years ago, we are too concerned about the ballooning problem of styrofoams and paper; thus, using plastic as an alternative to lessen pollution.

However, we ρáíd little to no attention to how we maximized the use of plastic. Don’t agree with me? How do you shop? Do you use eco-bags? Or do you just use paper bags and plastics that the supermarkets/stores give?

Every day, this earth gives us a chance to change the system. We should always heed the 3Rs. Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.

REUSE - Reuse old clothes, bags, and things that are still in perfect shape. Don’t throw your old clothes away, you can donate it to those who are in need of clothing, or, sell it for a lesser price. You can also reuse plastic bottles with high quality, and use those who have less quality as mini pots for planting and/or DIY containers for your small items. Using them as decorations count, too.
REDUCE - Reduce plastic and paper usage as much as possible. Buy eco-bags and reusable metal straws, utensils, and tumblers. Also, avoid eating on disposable plates and using disposable utensils.
RECYCLE - Upcycling is actually a trend. If you don’t like something but it’s still perfectly usable, modify or decorate it. Here are some upcycling successes you can use as inspirations.
As students, we are undeniably blessed to have the time to learn about this important and urgent matter. This is the Holocene. We are in the middle of the 6th mass extinction. If we don’t do something, we’re all doomed.
