im assuming its a feminine noun since the only diwata i know of are female like maria makiling pertaining to philippine mythology.
 
^yun una ko naisip eh. it might be one of those words that arent gender specific but the "a" at the end is a common pattern for feminine nouns like filipina or pinay. so i thought, maybe the masculine noun is a deep tagalog word that we rarely use. just like anjanette abayari's scene in a movie about upuan and salumpwet.
