PHThis is my second time to turn down a promotion. In my previous company, I was offered a TL post but I declined. Now with my new company, they offer me an SME post, but because I know myself, and I know it's not yet the time, I declined the offer. Then, someone just told me that I am such a fool for refusing to get promoted. Well, that person doesn't understand my perspective, not at all.
I always tell my colleagues and our OM na tatanggapin ko ang promotion kapag alam kong sure na ako sa isang bagay. Ayoko kasi yung basta-bastang sumasabak sa digmaan lalo pa at alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi pa ako fully equipped. And besides, mas másáráp ang buhay ng agent compare to higher positions. Kapag agent ka, ang iisipin mo lang ay ang metrics mo, then kapag na-meet mo, may incentives ka. Hindi gaya kapag promoted ka na, andami mong responsibility. Call it takot sa responsibility, pero doon ako sa kung ano ang gusto ko. Kung ayaw ko, aayawan ko. I wont grab something kung alam kong hindi ko pa gamay.
Sabi nila, dapat grab the opportunities daw. OK yang aspect na yan minsan, pero hindi sa lahat ng pagkakataon ay akma na gawin yan. If you don't know how to drive a car kasi motor pa lang ang alam mong imaneho, kahit pa binibigyan ka ng sasakyan, don't take it. Mag-practice ka munang mag-drive. Some people will, of course, get a car first then tsaka na lang nila iisipin kung paano yun i-drive. Pero ako, to be safe, I'd rather ensure myself fit first before taking all odds other than taking all odds without getting prepared.
Sabagay... kanya-kanya kasi tayo ng pananaw sa buhay. Nakakasuklam lang yung sasabihan ako ng ibang tao na sayang daw ang opportunity.
