Opus is a totally open, royalty-free, highly versatile audio codec. Opus is unmatched for interactive speech and music transmission over the Internet, but is also intended for storage and streaming applications. Basically, it's an audio codec designed for encoding high-quality audio such as long podcasts and music streams into a small file size.

Pero hindi lang podcasts ang purpose nito! Due to it's high versatility, Opus can be used for most types of audio, especially music.

Example:
588444
320 kbps MP3 and 96 kbps OPUS. It will also work for FLAC, and other audio encoders.

As you see, bumaba ang file size! This is very helpful for storing your music in your phone, which has limited space to make room for even more music!

"PERO PAANO ANG QUALITY? BAKA SIRA NA ANG SOUND, DAHIL 96 KBPS LANG EAN EH!"

You won't notice a difference in audio quality. Unless you have VERY EXPENSIVE STUDIO-GRADE EQUIPMENT and PERFECTLY GOOD EARS.

So paano mag encode ng MP3 or FLAC to Opus?

First and foremost:
Download and Install foobar2000. This is a very useful advanced audio player for Windows. Ito ang ginagamit ko para makinig ng Music sa laptop ko, I highly recommend using this as it has a
plethora of customizability and features not available in Windows Media Player!

Download foobar2000: You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.

After installing foobar2000, install the Free Encoder Pack. This will allow you to encode files into Opus.

Just follow the steps for installation. Download the Free Encoder Pack: You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.

After installing the Free Encoder Pack, you can now start Foobar2000 and do the following.
1. Go to foobar and drag your desired music to be converted into the playlist view
2. Right Click > Convert > Click the three dots (...)
588462
3. After clicking the three dots, the Converter Setup menu will show. Click "Output format"
588465
4. Find Opus in the Output menu > Adjust bitrate to 96 kbps > OK
588468
5. Click Back to go back to the Converter Setup menu, you're now ready to convert!
588474
6. Click convert, select the output path, and you're done!
588475
588476

And that's how you convert to Opus! You may now enjoy more music in your phone without a noticeable audio quality loss!

Important note:
- Make sure the initial audio file has a kbps higher than 96 kbps for best results! (320K or 128K MP3, 128 AAC, 1000K FLAC)

- Opus is not universally standard, so it may not play on older-gen MP3 music players (iPod, Bluetooth speaker galing sa palengke, Car radio ng Volkswagen beetle)

Kung gusto mo makinig ng music with Opus encoding sa Android, I recommend Poweramp Music Player.

May bayad ito, pero kung gusto mo I-download ng libre.. Makikita mo yan dito sa PHCorner ;)
