Napost ko na ito sa isang thread pero share ko rin dito ts baka sakaling makatulong sa ‘yo.
Chel Diokno is a human rights lawyer who helps the poor by offering free legal assistance to the victims of human rights violations. What I really hate about the Philippines is it’s an anti-poor country. I condemn such acts pero I believe due process is a right of every Filipino. Innocent until proven guilty. If you think otherwise, siguro privileged ka and you don’t have empathy for the poor. Also, aside from EJK victims of course (lalo na kung in denial ka na may EJK sa bansa), he also represents teachers, farmers, fishermen, among other underserved Filipinos. In short, Diokno will advocate for prô-poor bills once he’s in the Senate.
Samira Gutoc is a lawyer and activist who has several advocacies, among of which are youth, LGBTQ, and women’s right, freedom of information, protection of environment, peace, fight against discrimination, etc. she has been a community organizer for 20 years. She’s also Marawi’s civic leader, championing the rights of its people so they can claim what is theirs. She may come from the minority group, but she sure does know her stand and platforms and how to fight for them.
Neri Colmenares is also a human right violation lawyer, but what makes him stand out is his platform to advocate for Filipino workers. For years, he has stood side by side with the masses in bid to fight for the rights of workers. His political platform highlights include raising workers’ wages, banning all forms of contractualization, and removal of excise tax. Again, Colmenares is one to advocate for the rights of the poor. If you want better labor laws for all, Colmenares is definitely your guy.
These three have studied and practiced law for the better good. They have helped the Filipino people and they act and speak with decency and knowledge. Hindi puro kuda at sigaw ng **** sa social media, pero wala namang mapatunayan behind the scenes. I don’t just vote for papogi and pasipsip sa presidente. I want my leaders to be capable of leading.
