based solely on the definition of murder, i don't know if someone will think of it as a moral act

It depends.

If one committed murder out of malice, then it's immoral.
If one committed murder because of a situation (e.g., kill one to save a hundred, etc.), then it's a grey area.
If one committed murder because they need to protect (e.g., kill a terrorist, etc.), then it's moral.

In the end, murder is still murder. It may not be as clear cut as black and white, but let's just hope and pray that we will not be forced to murder a person as long as we live.
