María José Cristerna from Mexico holds the record for most body modifications on a female, with 49 body mods altogether. These include a range of transdermal implants on her forehead (including titanium horns), chest and arms, and multiple piercings in her eyebrows, lips, nose, tongue, ear lobes, belly button and nipples - as well as significant tattoo coverage. This former lawyer, who features on the #GWR2019 book, also owns a tattoo parlour and is a mother of four.

María Cristerna is also referred to as 'The Mexican Vampire lady' and 'La Mujer Vampiro'. Her fame has seen her tour the world, including featuring in GWR TV shows. "If I had been told that this would happen one day, I would have not believed it," María told Reuters.
