Disclaimer: The thread designs that I will be making while doing this tutorial will be on a very newbie level, it is mostly just for
you to understand the process and the basics, then if you want to get better at making thread designs you should look into pure Photoshop
and After Effects tutorials that do not have a soul purpose of thread design making. (2): All format codes that are in code-tags
written below is not of the proper layout. I only wrote it like that to make it easier to read and understand.

Personally I use You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. and You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now., which makes the perfect combination when making thread designs. When making a flat thread design, you will not use Adobe After Effects, you only use Adobe After Effects when doing animated thread designs. When making animated thread designs, you make everything in After Effects and you only use Photoshop at one point which is when you make the frames into a gif format.

To make it more clear, when making animated thread designs in After Effects, you render your animation as a PNG sequence (which is frames) and in Photoshop you make the frames into a very high quality gif. You do this for every section you have, and then combine the sections (as gifs) into a fully animated thread designs. I will talk more about this in the "How animated thread designs works" which will be far down in this thread.

You need to have somewhat of basic knowledges in any Adobe program to get a good start with this. If you know basics of Photoshop you will know how to use After Effects and vice versa. I would suggest you to watch some tutorials on YouTube but it is better if I go through what you will be needing more precise from here.

Rmyhd5o.webp

I am gonna go ahead and skip the very basics of basics such as how to make a new file in Photoshop, however I will not skip it in After Effects because you get a little bit confused there and it is not as common used as Photoshop. But I will go through some simple tools that you will be needing when making thread designs, I will not explain tools that you won't need.

Shape tool: When making flat thread designs this is the golden tool to use for the background. Simple click on the "Rectangle tool", select a color and use the mouse to click from where you want it to begin and from where you want it to end. You can change the color of the shape by clicking the current color from the top left bar. You cannot change the color of it by clicking on the right color tool.

Text tool: It is pretty self-explanatory but there are some hidden things one does not think about most of the times. Basics? Just like with the shape tool, click and drag to set the height and width of it and then type your text. On the top left-ish you are able to set some options for the text such as, font, color, size, align and more.

When it comes to fonts, you cannot use any font for your header and same with your paragraphs and more. The most common font used is "Arial", it is mostly used on the web since it is a standard font but why use it for thread designs when you are able to use so much more? Simple use a search engine and type in "header fonts" or "paragraph fonts" and you will be able to find tons of ρáíd and free fonts. One that I personally recommend using is named You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now., click on the name to download it. This font works for headers and paragraphs, personally I use it for my entire thread designs.

Those two tools are the most common ones you will be using, the possibilities with these two tools are endless, you can use them in so many different ways to make your thread design look top notch.

Ja6HECD.webp

As in any Adobe program, or many of them, the tools are mostly the same. Common tools such as the rectangle-tool or text-tool are the same. The explanation as I did above for Photoshop would be pretty much the same if I did it for After Effects aswell. If there's something I would need to explain it is how animated thread designs works. I have made an entire section for that which will be a few posts below, just use the table of contents to be directed there.

kyp1KaP.gif
ATGB0hw.webp

This part is the actual thing. In this section I will explain how to make a flat thread design, I will explain in text what I am doing aswell as show screenshots of what have been done. When making a flat thread design, it is done in one-piece. Meaning that it is done in the same file.

You need to have a layout in mind, when I get orders from customers they most of the times present a text file with the content of their thread design. No layout is like the other, they are all unique. But let us say that we are making a thread design for an ebook sales thread.

You most likely want your layout to look something like this:

Header
Features
Price package(s)
Contact information

You will not want to include your terms of service in the thread design, looks messy and you wanna keep it simple. Instead include it in (spoiler)-tags below the thread. You can do it by using this code:

Code:
[spoiler=Terms of service]
(Your terms of service goes here)
[/spoiler]

Now when we got a layout in mind, make your file in Photoshop and use 1150 px as width and set a random height such as 2000 px. You will need to adjust the height later on because we do not know the exact height yet, it will depend on our content. Set your background color as transparent. This is how my new file looks like:

New file
ZovrRCp.webp

The base is all set, now we can start making the flat thread design. Start by using the shape tool and select the "Rectangle tool", this flat thread design that we will be making will be very basic on a newbie level. So set a color you like, personally I will use #00AAFF which is a light-blue color and also the color of häçkForums UB3R userbar. Drag the rectangle to get a nice height to fit the header title, a slogan and maybe a button to say something like "Learn more". This is how it looks like after I draged the rectangle for my header:

Header
3mrsCDd.webp

Now use the text tool, click once and type in your header title, I will set mine to be "Header title", just to keep it simple and clear for you whos following this tutorial. The header title will have the font "You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now." and I will set it as bold since it is the header title. The font size will be quite large, it should show the header title clear. Then below the header title I will set a slogan or undertitle, I will simple type "Here goes your slogan" and it should not be as large as the header title.
This is how the header now looks like:

Header
Kxl0geo.webp

All simple and clean so far, keep that up. Let's scroll up again and have a look at the layout, what's next? Features.

What am I exactly thinking about? Well this is for an ebook sales thread, or if it would be, your potential customers would want to know things like, does this involve any blackhat activities? does this involve scamming, CPA and such. So you can make a simple list, doesn't need to be advanced at all. First of all use the rectangle tool to make a background for this part, show that this is a new section. I will use the hexadecimal color code #121212. We can use You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. icon to mark each features. Simple download it and drag it in your thread design then scale it. You can always use Ctrl + T to scale. This is how the second section now looks like.

Features
c6qTIX3.webp

Let us say that we have 6 features, try to make it as symmetric as possible. Use 2 on each row then and use the text tool to add your features.
Do I have to add a new icon and do it manually for all? No, right click at the layer and select

"Duplicate layer..."
7ammbfh.webp

If you are a beginner keep in mind that you should use the same size of the icon for all, same goes with the text and use the same font aswell. Basic knowledges to complete this step, this is how it looks like now:

Features
07iTGeO.webp

Does your layer section look

messy?
1EZA77O.webp

Clean it up by selecting the layers you want and click this

button
GWKv2TQ.webp

It is starting to look like something now. We got a header and a second section which is features. Now comes a little bit more advanced part, the price section. Often people have multiple price packages, one with support and one without, or one with bonus methods and one without. You could make the price section simple by using the text tool, but it would not look too appealing. I could walk you through how to make your own price package section but it is not too easy.

So I decided to make a few ones that you are free to use, they are made by me and anyone have permission to use them. But first of all, show that this is a new section by using the rectangle tool and I will go with the hexadecimal color code #00AAFF, like the header. Now to the price packages, they will be linked under "Thread design resources", find one you like and download it. Then open up the .psd file for it you downloaded and click the entire group from "layers" and drag into your thread design.

Price section
M1iLSqA.webp

The layers are very organized for you to easily be able to edit and use it on your own. If you wanna change a text use the text tool and click on the text you wanna edit, not much more difficult than that. If you wanna change color of the button simple click the layer, then click on the shape tool and on your top left you will be able to select any color you want.
But for now I will duplicate the price group and add one to the right side aswell, that package could include things such as support, bonus method, free setup and such. This is how it looks like at the moment:

Price section
SVEErCr.webp

Alright, that was a little bit more complicated section (for beginners), but we managed to make it a bit easier to make when using pre-made price packages. Scroll up, whats next? Contact information. This is the easiest section of all four in this thread design. Often my customers want to offer support over private message on the forum, and support over Skype. You can use You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. icons for this section.
We'll be making the new section by using the rectangle tool again, i'll use the hexadecimal color code #121212. Of course you can use images instead of the rectangles, but this tutorial is made for beginners, so we'll keep it simple.

Contact information
YTKXWI9.webp

Now we're starting to get things done, the last part is to add the icons and add two lines of text. Drag in the icons and behind the chatbubble add something like "Private message" and behind the Skype icon "Skype username". It is a really simple section, very basic but still looks good. This is how it looks like now! (remember to use Ctrl + T to scale things)

Contact information
eqKhqVV.webp

Part 2 of this section is below.

x0mzlpD.webp

So that above is what I would call a version (1), if I would make a version (2) of it I would do things such as replacing the header rectangle with an image such as You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.. Drag in the image and and use Ctrl + T to resize it for the header.

Image added
hMy8LHr.webp

Hm, the text isn't too visible now, what do we do now? We can drag a black rectangle over it

Black rectangle added
7D5nsrW.webp

and change the opacity on it to 80%, then we will still be able to see the image we used, and now the header text is showng much clearer. This is where you edit the opacity of a layer:

Change opacity
J6L18sV.webp

and then this is how the header looks like now:

New header:
arb7Pfo.webp

What else can we do? We can do minor things such as changing the background color of the price section from #00AAFF to a more white-ish color #E7E7E7 and then change the slogan/undertitle to pure #00AAFF. Now we got a white/black/light-blue theme, which is looking slick in my book. But do whatever you like and think looks good.

Nakakamangha ka Master Paps. Good job for making it this far.

I have already explained briefly on how it works but read this and you will have a better understanding. Flat thread designs, they are in a .png form. If you see find a thread design in a .jpeg format, question the designer why..

Animated thread designs however are in either only .gif formats or .gif and .png formats. Maybe you want your thread designs fully animated or just partly, up to you entirely. If you would only want your header to be animated (.gif) this is how your format code would more or less look like:

Code:
[align=center]
[img][/img]
[img][/img]
[/align]

You have multiple images and it looks like one huge thread designs, you cannot even tell if there's multiple images unless you drag each image around or if you inspect the format code. So how can this benefit us?

Read this carefully and really try to understand it. First, know the fact that we cannot make one huge animated thread designs, technology simple does not support a 1150x3000 (width & height px) animated thread design at the length of like 20 seconds. You would not be able to make your frames into a .gif format when you have those kind of dimensions and settings. That is why we make our animated thread design in several parts. Here is how one could look like if it is only animated:

5J19dTZ.gif
KChfqrl.gif
nO85OfG.webp
mq8iRGZ.gif
5Rh8MjQ.gif

Code:
[align=center]
[ATTACH]1258802[/ATTACH]
[ATTACH]1258803[/ATTACH]
[ATTACH]1258804[/ATTACH]
[ATTACH]1258805[/ATTACH]
[ATTACH]1258806[/ATTACH]
[ATTACH]1258807[/ATTACH]
[/align]

So you make several parts, and because we are doing so, we can make each part in a really high quality version and then have all parts in high quality which in the end makes it look like a giant high quality animated thread design. If you do not really understand this part, read it again before you move on to the next section.

When I were introduced to animated thread designs I sat for probably two hours trying to make a giant animated thread design in one piece. Photoshop would not let me, and I could not figure out why. Took time to understand but now I know, learn from my mistake.

3FAidFz.gif
JwjkF8O.webp

This is gonna be a more advanced part of thread design making. If you are new to this, take it easy. Practise flat thread designs first and move on to the basics of After Effects and then you enter this section fully.

I just mentioned After Effects, and that is the program we will mainly be using for making this thread design, we make it there and then render it and we'll put it together in Photoshop to make it a .gif format.

Home is now behind you, the world is ahead! – Gandalf

Open up After Effects and click new "Composition", not new "file".

Making a new composition
YSYspmC.webp

So I could make the entire thread animated, in like 5-6 sections or whatever. But I wanna achieve the effect of you as a reader learning as much as possible, so keeping it simple will help. Therefor I will make this thread in two parts, the first part will be animated and the rest will be static.

So for the settings of our new composition we will set our width, again it will be 1150 px, and a height of about 500 px should do. The animated part will be the header for your information. Therefor 500 px is the set number, that's a good height for a header. Moving on, fps will be set to 30, could be 25 aswell if you wish, I do not recommend going as high as 60 or such. Our time composition length will be 10 seconds, we wanna try to keep the file size as low as possible to reduce longer loading of the page. The background color will be set to random, does not matter because I will be using an image as background.

Settings of composition
qCOPBPK.webp

This is how it should look like at the moment EyXSOyr.webp

But it may look a lil bit different depending on what windows you have selected to show. If you are missing things such as your timeline, toolbar, project, or composition, go to "Window" and select the things you are missing.

Alright so it maybe looks a little bit messy and you do not know where to start, fear no more! I shall guide you. Just call me senpai. - So I am thinking that we will continue working on the flat thread design we made above. We could separate the flat thread design into two pieces, separate the header from the body.

This is what I am talking about
j0LoIYA.webp

and then we will animate the header part, for this tutorial. This is the code we will use if we have two parts in our thread design:

Code:
[align=center]
[img][/img]
[img][/img]
[/align]

So I removed the header part from the flat thread design, there is tons of methods doing it, I simple made a new file which had a shorter height and then saved it as .png.

This is how the non-animated part looks like
IPa8FnN.webp

We got that out of the way now, let's start on the animated header now. I am thinking that the animation will be a simple fade in, fade out. Just so that you can learn the process of this, that is what matters. Begin with using the text-tool which you can find on your top-left and click on your composition. Enter your thread and in the right side of After Effects you shall find a box by name "Character", if you cannot find it go to the tab "Window" and enable it. In the box "Character" you can set your font, size, color, type, and more. I will be using the font You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now..

This is where I am at the moment
jJAZRqp.webp

All good so far, nothing too advanced. The header will have the same look as before, just that it will be animated. So we can go ahead and drag our background image into the

"Project" window
XChZ39d.webp

Save your work after this part if you already have not.

Now drag the image down to the timeline. Drag it below your text settings:

The timeline
m82Jlgk.webp

If you remember from the "Flat thread design" part of this tutorial, I mentioned that the text is not too visible now with the background. So what we did was to drag a black rectangle over it and then change the opacity to 80% or something like that. Let's do that again. Click on the "Rectangle-tool" in the tool-bar and drag a rectangle that will fill out your entire header,

Like this
fHBjXw0.webp

Well not it isn't really looking good does it. First or all, keep in mind that in the timeline, you are working with layers, just like you do in Photshop. So if a layer is above another, it will be like that in your image aswell. Keep that in mind. Now let's change the opacity by doing the same as I did here:

Settings of layer
aylK6dP.webp

This is how it look like at the moment
HEIDcFJ.webp

Part 2 of this section is below.

k98woXx.webp

Let's animate shall we. When doing the actual animations, you work a lot with the timeline. Personally I wanna animate the text "Header Title", so in my timeline I will open up that layer for more options by clicking the lil arrow and then i'll once again click the lil arrow but for "Transform",

Like this
yGGLpiH.webp

Our composition is at the length of 10 seconds, as we set in the compositon settings far up. If you set it for like 100 seconds or whatever, you can change it anytime by going to "Composition" > "Composition settings..". So 10 seconds, for the first 2 seconds I want the opacity to go from 0% to 100% and then after 6 more seconds I want the opacity to go from 99% to 0%. That is the idea. So click on the little timer icon that is infront of "Opacity", and then change 100% to 0%,

Like this
m9an5rV.webp

Now we have set the opacity to be 0% at 0 seconds, now let's go to 2 seconds and set the opacity to 100%,

Current timeline settings
b53bdqp.webp

Do the same for 8 seconds where you change your opacity to 99% and then on 10 seconds you change it to 0%. Then you basically have your fade in and fade out. You can preview your 10 seconds animation from the "Preview" window, enable it if you already have not. This is the timeline for the complete animation:

Finished timeline settings
36ZgDia.webp

Now we wanna render our header. Set your time to 0 seconds and click "Ctrl + M" or click at "Add to Render Queue".

"Add to Render Queue"
qJt4OGK.webp

Set your "Losseles" to "PNG Squence" and then your Output to wherever you want your frames to land. Then hit "Render"!

Render settings
4Ynzdyc.webp

So now it should be rendering for you. Basically what it does is that it renders each frame of your animation, so you'll end up with 100-200 png images in your folder. When it have render'd done let us go back to Photoshop, click on "File" and then "Open". Locate your frames folder, select the first one and then select "Image Sequence", important!

Image Sequence
MGEB2bE.webp

A pop-up window will appear, select 30 fps and move on. In this step we will make the frames into a .gif. So we need to export it correct, it is not just to save it as, that is not how it works. Do like

This
ZT4Q2Hp.webp

This window should open up, and the only thing you need to worry about at the moment is the "Looping Options", set it to "Forever" and hit "Save...".

Export window
EDEqLhq.webp

Mr Frodo, you did it. The big parts are completed, now comes the fun part which is the end. Let's assembly the header with the body by uploading them to an image host and add them to a working format code, like this:

Finished version
oUSRxTd.gif
6kf156z.webp

Code:
