Globe says 'on course' to deploy 5G in 2019

MANILA – Globe Telecom said Friday it was on track to deploy 5G services by the second quarter of 2019, as it pursue as P139-billion upgrade of its facilities.
Globe said it would complete 5G radio, transmission, core and support facilities by the end of the year.
“5G is an important building block for the Philippine economy’s competitiveness. This is the reason we are accelerating our efforts to deploy 5G so we can provide as many Filipinos as possible an access to the technology,” Globe chief technology and information officer Gil Genio said.
Globe plans to double the average broadband speeds to 50 mbps by 2020 from 17.63 mbps in April 2018, Genio said.
