What are Linking Verbs?

Unlike normal VERBS (action), linking verbs show a relationship between the subject and another word that describes it - this could be an adjective or another noun.

The most common linking verb is to be and its other forms:
- am
- is
- are
- was
- were
- be
- being
- been

Verbs such as appear, feel, get, grow etc. can be used as linking verbs. In order to differentiate one from the other, you have to pay attention on how each of the verbs is used.

Verbs speak / tell of ACTION, while
linking verbs are used as DESCRIPTION.

Examples:
Linking Verb:

WALANGMAGAWA grows weak after hours of sleeping.

That sack of rice looks empty.

Verb (action):

Blastocyst grows rice in paddies.

Blastocyst stays in SB all day.
