"Homosexuality in Ancient Greece"
Homosexuality did happen during ancient Greece. The most widespread homosexuality in ancient Greece was between a full grown man and an adolescent boy. It is called Pedastry.
"Paidestratia" (Pedastry) means "boy love". Its a relationship between a full grown man and a boy. Once the beard of a boy hasn't grown fully, he is still a boy. The Greek pedastry started in the tribal pass of Greece. Each tribal communities were organized according to their age. Once a boy became a man, he will be constituted a rite of passage accompanied by a man. The ãdül† will educate him about the life and responsibilities in Greece, as time goes by, the adults will share sexual relationship with the boys. Traditionally, the pederastic relationship will continue until the boy's body hair were fully grown.
The Sacred Band of Thebes, a military unit only for men, is usually considered as the prime example of how relationship between soldiers during ancient Greece. Achilles and Patroclus were the perfect example. The first recorded appearance of a deep emotional bond between ãdül† men in ancient Greek culture was in the Iliad (800 BC).
Nowadays, homosexuality isn't such a big deal, we are more likely to be open-minded, tho judgemental and hypocrite people still there, still, homosexuality is accepted now. Just don't judge, as the famous quote says, "Love knows no gender".
