PROMISES



Think I've heard that line before,

One long time ago I can recall:

An intense promise was made,

To a heart that always believed.



Then the hours and days quickly roll by;

And the promise made by you and I;

In the twilight slowly faded,

And it's life gradually ended.



In my mind all that's left are memories,

When sometime my heart knew happiness;

And I don't understand why,

Those promises were left to die.
