you can upgrade to windows 10 for free using your windows 8/8.1, as you notice upon purchasing laptops with windows 8/8.1 operating system you can't find the product key in the sticker unlike windows 7 because the product key is already embedded in the firmware's device this is also called the digital license.

this only allowed for users to perform clean install

first you need windows 10 iso image downloaded from microsoft.com
create usb bootable drive or burn the iso to dvd
now, you already have the windows 10 installer
go to bios/uefi change the boot priority settings, first boot: usb or dvd
no need for you to enter product key because the installer itself check the digital license in the device firmware
just continue the installation until it is finished and wait until you are connected to the internet for the activation.
