Splatoon Raiders is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo, belonging to the Splatoon franchise universe and released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, 2026. Unlike traditional titles in the series, which are characterized by multiplayer team battles using ink to conquer territories, Splatoon Raiders presents an experience focused primarily on exploration, combat, and treasure hunting. In the adventure, the player takes on the role of a customizable mechanic who works alongside Deep Cut, a musical trio formed by Shiver, Frye, and Big Man. The story takes place on the mysterious Spirhalite Islands, an archipelago full of unknown environments, abandoned facilities, underground caves, dangerous creatures, and hidden treasures. During the journey, the protagonist must explore different regions, face enemies known as Salmonids, collect materials, and discover the secrets existing on the islands. One of the main features of the game is its raid system, in which the player chooses specific locations to explore in search of resources and rewards. Each expedition presents different challenges, including hordes of enemies, powerful bosses, and areas that require specific equipment to explore. Combat utilizes ink-firing weapons, maintaining one of the franchise's most recognizable characteristics, but introducing new possibilities for customization and strategies. There are over 100 weapon variations, as well as different mechanical equipment known as gadgets, which allow players to adapt their combat style to their preferences. Another highlight is the tank system, divided into three main categories: Speed, Power, and Tactical. Each category offers its own characteristics and allows the equipping of special devices to improve performance during battles. Equipment can also be upgraded using materials found on expeditions, increasing attributes such as damage, firing speed, duration, and special effects. The player also has the assistance of an Exploration Bot, a powerful machine controlled by a member of the Deep Cut, which can help locate treasures, confront enemies, and execute special attacks. Furthermore, the game features a progression system in which it is possible to evolve the character, improve equipment, unlock new abilities, and build upgrades for the main hideout, called the Hideout Ship. Another interesting aspect is the ability to customize the protagonist's appearance using different clothes and accessories, including items unlockable through compatible amiibo figures. Despite having a predominantly single-player experience, Splatoon Raiders also allows for gameplay with up to four players via online matches or local wireless communication.Allowing players to undertake expeditions and hunt for treasure in groups, the title offers three difficulty levels, adapting the challenges for both beginners and those seeking more demanding combat. Developed to take advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2's features, the game presents varied environments, new enemies, customizable equipment, and a different approach from previous installments in the franchise.
