The game is the third and final game in the trilogy, following Attack the Light and Save the Light. It was developed by Grumpyface Studios and published by Cartoon Network Games. The story was written by Rebecca Sugar and features the voices of the original cast from the series.

The game was initially released exclusively for iOS in November 2019 as part of the launch of Apple Arcade and its products. In February 2021, the game was released simultaneously for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
