I made a simple Microsoft 365 Minimal Installer using a Windows batch file.
The purpose is simple: install only the Microsoft 365 apps I actually need without manually downloading the Office Deployment Tool or creating configuration.xml.
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft PowerPoint
Access
OneNote
Outlook
New Outlook
Publisher
Teams
Skype for Business / Lync
Groove
OneDrive from the Office deployment
The script does not forcibly uninstall separately installed Microsoft Store apps or unrelated Microsoft software.
Microsoft 365 Personal / Family
Microsoft 365 Business Standard / Premium
Microsoft 365 Apps for business / no-Teams
Microsoft 365 / Office 365 Enterprise
Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise / no-Teams
If the BAT detects an already supported Microsoft 365 installation, it will try to use the detected product instead.
Install-Minimal-Office365-FINAL.bat --test
This checks the system, downloads/verifies ODT, generates the XML, and stops before installing Office.
Word
Excel
PowerPoint
and excludes the other Microsoft 365 apps configured in the script.
It also does not remove unrelated MSI-installed programs.
A valid Microsoft 365 license or subscription is still required.
PowerShell 5.1+
Internet connection
Administrator access
Valid Microsoft 365 license
Use at your own discretion.
Recommended first run:
Install-Minimal-Office365-FINAL.bat --test
If you encounter an error, post the error message or screenshot for troubleshooting.

Features
The BAT automatically handles most of the setup:- Automatically downloads Microsoft's official Office Deployment Tool
- Tries to retrieve the current ODT directly from Microsoft
- Downloads Office files directly from Microsoft servers
- Verifies the Microsoft digital signature of the downloaded ODT
- Verifies the extracted setup.exe
- Detects an existing Microsoft 365 Click-to-Run installation
- Reuses a supported existing Microsoft 365 product configuration when possible
- Automatically generates the required configuration.xml
- Keeps the existing Office architecture/update behavior when applicable
- Uses your Windows language when doing a clean installation
- Does not use RemoveMSI
- Does not automatically remove unrelated MSI programs/components
- Does not force-close Office applications
- Verifies Word, Excel and PowerPoint after installation
- Has a safe test mode before actually installing anything
Supported Microsoft 365 Editions
For a clean installation, you can select from:Microsoft 365 Personal / Family
Microsoft 365 Business Standard / Premium
Microsoft 365 Apps for business / no-Teams
Microsoft 365 / Office 365 Enterprise
Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise / no-Teams
If the BAT detects an already supported Microsoft 365 installation, it will try to use the detected product instead.
How to Use
- Download Install-Minimal-Office365-FINAL.bat
- Right-click it
- Choose Run as administrator
- Follow the prompts
Test Mode
Before installing, you can test it first with cmd:Install-Minimal-Office365-FINAL.bat --test

Result
The installer keeps only:Word

and excludes the other Microsoft 365 apps configured in the script.
Updates
The script does not lock Office to an old build. It downloads the applicable Microsoft 365 version directly from Microsoft.Existing Office
If the script detects an unusual or unsupported Office installation, it stops instead of modifying it automatically. It also does not remove unrelated MSI-installed programs.

This script only handles installation/configuration.A valid Microsoft 365 license or subscription is still required.
