What you'll learn
⚡ Classify AI uses under the EU AI Act and name the obligations, roles, authorities, fines and dates that follow
⚡ Apply GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, non-discrimination, consumer-protection and product-liability rules to AI scenarios
⚡ Map an activity to the NIST AI RMF function and an ISO/IEC number to its purpose (22989, 42001, 23894, 42005)
⚡ Run the development lifecycle: use case, impact assessment, design, design risks, data governance, lineage, testing
⚡ Govern deployment: readiness gates, controlled releases, monitoring and retraining triggers, audits and red teaming
⚡ Manage incidents in the right order, document records and post-market monitoring, communicate externally, retire safely
⚡ Answer single-select scenario questions and no-partial-credit multi-select questions with a repeatable method
Requirements
❗ No prior certification or AI background is required. Experience in privacy, compliance, legal or risk work helps but the course does not assume it.
❗ The IAPP AIGP Body of Knowledge v2.1. The official study guide is recommended reading and is not included in this course.
Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Prepare for the IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) exam on the 2026 Body of Knowledge, version 2.1.
This course is built the way the exam is built. Twelve chapters follow the order of the AIGP study guide and cover every one of its sections. Each lesson is a focused lecture with one diagram or table per idea and no reading of slides aloud, an exam angle slide on what the questions on that section actually test, and a quiz drawn from a 450-question bank written for this exam, with every wrong option explained and a learning point for each question. Chapter recaps mix questions across sections for spaced retrieval, and a full-length practice test closes the course: 100 further questions written for it, weighted to the published blueprint, none of them reused from the lessons. The course carries 550 questions in total.
What is covered
✨Domain I, Foundations. AI fundamentals and the characteristics that make AI governance different; governance structures, roles and culture; policies, procedures and assessments across the AI lifecycle.
✨Domain II, Laws, standards and frameworks. How privacy law applies to AI (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, consent, purpose limitation, DPIAs, special categories); intellectual property, non-discrimination, consumer protection and product liability law; the EU AI Act in seven lessons (risk tiers, high-risk requirements, oversight and transparency, general-purpose AI, enforcement and penalties, operator roles, the implementation timeline including the 2026 amendment); supplements on South Korea's AI Basic Act and U.S. state laws (Colorado, California SB 942 and AB 2013, New York City, Utah, Texas); OECD principles, NIST AI RMF and ARIA, ISO/IEC 22989, 42001, 23894, 42005 and the wider family, and the other frameworks the exam names.
✨Domain III, Governing development. Lifecycle documentation, business context and use cases, impact assessments, design decisions and human-oversight models, design risks, data governance, lineage and provenance, testing and testing risks.
✨Domain IV, Governing deployment and use. Deployment context, model types, deployment and adaptation options (cloud, on-premises, edge; prompting, fine-tuning, RAG, agents), vendor and proprietary-model decisions, readiness and release gates, deployment governance, monitoring and retraining, audits, red teaming, threat modelling and security testing, incidents, root causes, disclosures, records, external communications, and retirement, deactivation and localisation.
How the course is taught
✨ Every lecture is written from the primary sources named on its last slide: the regulations, standards and frameworks themselves, and the Body of Knowledge. Nothing is copied from any study guide.
✨ Quizzes show the question with a pause, then the answer, why each wrong option fails, and the learning point. Quiz counts follow the number of testable distinctions in a section, not a fixed number.
✨ Chapter recaps list the term pairs the exam's distractors are built from.
✨ The practice test uses Udemy's practice-test format, so you can time yourself and review your result by domain.
Who this is for
Privacy, compliance, legal, risk, security, data and product professionals preparing for the AIGP exam, and anyone who needs a structured, exam-grade map of AI governance law and practice.
The same material is available as a book by the same publisher, AIGP Exam Mastery. The two formats stand alone, so choose the one that fits how you learn.
A note on how this course was made
