During the 2026 Holy Week travel period, the Philippine Ports Authority reminded passengers that both pets and plants transported by sea may require appropriate permits.
Pet owners were advised to coordinate with the Bureau of Animal Industry's National Veterinary Quarantine Services, while plant owners also face documentation requirements.
This is particularly relevant for people moving between Philippine islands. A vacation, relocation, or family visit can therefore require preparation for living companions just like other travel arrangements.
