Travel planning is increasingly being built around what people want to do, rather than simply where they want to go.
Philippine travel industry reports point to growing interest in hobby-driven trips involving marathons, sporting challenges, food experiences, nature, and other activities. Someone might therefore choose a destination because it has a particular race, diving experience, food scene, or outdoor activity.
The main attraction becomes the experience itself, with sightseeing added around it.
This can also encourage longer stays because travelers want enough time to participate in the activity and explore the destination afterward. Travel is gradually becoming more personalized around individual interests.
