The Gueday Stone Agricultural Calendars are two enormous stones in Besao, Mountain Province.
They stand beside each other with a narrow opening between them. At certain times, sunlight passes through the opening, while markings on the stones record events connected with rice planting.
The stones were therefore linked with the agricultural calendar of the local community. Their importance goes beyond being unusual rock formations because they preserve traditional environmental and farming knowledge.
The Philippine heritage inventory recognizes them as an important example of indigenous agricultural knowledge.
They show how communities could observe the movement of sunlight and connect it with seasonal agricultural activities.
