Yaron Lichtenstein began learning Krav Maga from Imi Lichtenfeld at the age of just13. He subsequently spent decades training under and working alongside his teacher, helping to preserve and develop the system as it was taught by its founder. According to the Bukan School biography, Lichtenstein was awarded the9th Dan by Imi Lichtenfeld in 1994, together with recognition as his professional successor.

This course gives you the opportunity to learn about Krav Maga not simply as a collection of techniques, but as asystem with a history, philosophy, structure and method of development.

Grandmaster Yaron Lichtenstein

Yaron Lichtenstein's connection to Krav Maga began in1966, when he met Imi Lichtenfeld at the age of 13. According to the Bukan School's official biography, he continued to train and learn from Imi for approximately 27 years.

His journey was not limited to ordinary martial arts training. He later served in the Israeli military and participated in the Yom Kippur War before returning to training and helping Imi teach Krav Maga in various settings.

Over the years, Lichtenstein became one of Imi's closest students and teachers of the system.

In1994, Imi Lichtenfeld awarded Yaron Lichtenstein the9th Dan Black Belt, the highest rank associated with the system in this lineage. The Bukan School identifies Lichtenstein as the only person to receive the 9th Dan directly from Imi.

This unique connection makes his perspective particularly significant for anyone interested in the historical development of Original Krav Maga.

The Beginning of a Complete Krav Maga Encyclopedia

This course isVolume 1 of a continuing educational series.

The objective of the complete encyclopedia is to document and present the Krav Maga system progressively—from its historical foundations through the examination programs and advanced levels.

Later volumes in the series cover the technical and examination curriculum, including the progression through the belt levels. Existing publications in the series include examination programs for Yellow, Orange, green, Blue, Brown and Black Belt levels.

The result is intended to provide students with a structured reference to the system rather than presenting isolated techniques without context.
