Basic understanding of Git and GitHub
Familiarity with command-line tools (e.g. working with terminal in macos)
No prior Codex experience required

Description
AI-assisted software development is much more than asking an AI to generate a function or fix a bug.

In thishands-on masterclass, you'll learn how to use Codex as a developer assistant across real-world software development workflows.

Instead of focusing on isolated prompts or theoretical examples, we'llwork with a real backend application and use Codex tosolve practical engineering problems fromacross the software development lifecycle.

You'll learn how to use Codex to reverse engineer an unfamiliar codebase, understand its architecture, and generate project documentation and diagrams.

We'll build Continuous Integration workflows, automate backend testing and frontend UAT, and integrate Codex with GitHub to work with commits and pull requests.

You'll explore different approaches to code review, including local, automated, and on-demand reviews. We'll also integrate Codex with Jira and use it to implement a real feature from requirements through implementation, testing, pull request, review, and fixes.

But Codex can assist far beyond implementation.

You'll use it to analyze an existing application and identify security, performance, maintainability, and code-quality improvements. You'll brainstorm and prioritize new feature ideas based on customer value.

You'll also go through a complete performance optimization workflow: create a testing plan, generate load-testing scripts, establish a baseline, implement an optimization, and measure its impact.

Finally, you'll use Codex for engineering planning by designing a backend migration to Amazon S3—analyzing risks, comparing alternative strategies, and generating migration runbooks and scripts.

This course is designed to bepractical and hands-on. The goal isn't to memorize prompts. It's to understand where Codex fits into everyday software development and how to use it effectively while keeping engineering decisions under your control.

Gobeyond code generation. Use Codex across the software development lifecycle.

Who this course is for
This masterclass is designed for software developers who already have experience with modern development tools and want to become significantly more productive with AI-assisted development.
It's especially valuable for developers who want to move beyond simple AI code generation and use Codex throughout real-world development workflows.
