Arturia Pure SUB is a software bass synthesizer built around three independent sound layers: Sub, Harmonics, and Texture. Each layer is generated and shaped separately before being routed through a shared filter, effects section, and output stage. The architecture is focused on electronic bass production, with applications ranging from 808 and sub bass sounds to Reese bass and distorted or textured variations.
The Sub layer provides independent control over the fundamental frequency, including level, phase, and pitch. Software Overview
Arturia Pure SUB combines dedicated synthesis, filtering, processing, effects, and modulation tools in an instrument designed specifically around bass sound creation. The three synthesis layers can be shaped independently and routed separately to the filter stage, providing control over the relationship between fundamental, harmonic, and textured elements.
The Harmonics section includes Pressure, which generates lower-density harmonic material with a custom waveform editor, and Reese, which creates wide, high-density unison tones. A dedicated Pitch Envelope controls pitch movement independently from amplitude, while key-tracked EQ helps maintain consistent tonal character across the keyboard range.
The Texture layer provides two processing approaches. Texture blends noise samples into the signal using Ring Modulation, AM, or Distortion, while Corroder introduces Noise, Sine, Saw, or Square sources at fixed or key-tracked frequencies.
More than 40 filter modes are available, followed by a Sub Processor containing 33 modes for distortion, tonal shaping, and saturation. The processor includes a global Amount control and six shaping macros. Further processing is available through a 12-slot FX Rack with 18 effects and saveable rack presets.
At the end of the signal chain, the Maximiser provides Soft and Hard modes along with EQ, compression, and multiband processing. Modulation features include envelopes, flexible modulation sources, assignable macros, keyboard E×ρréššion controls, modulation sidechaining, and MPE support.
