Physical attractiveness isn't necessarily fixed the moment you see someone's face.

Researchers first had participants rate photographs of opposite-*** strangers.

Later, participants received information describing those people as having positive, negative, or neutral personality traits.

Positive personality information increased subsequent ratings of physical attractiveness, desirability as a friend, and desirability as a dating partner.

Negative personality information produced the opposite pattern.
So “they became more attractive after I got to know them” can describe a genuine psychological effect.

Sometimes personality doesn't merely compensate for appearance—it can actually influence how attractive the appearance itself seems.
