The biggest advantage: Copilot
The subscription owner gets Microsoft's highest available consumer Copilot usage limits, including Copilot features inside apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
Premium also includes advanced Copilot capabilities such as Researcher, which can research and produce structured reports, and Analyst, which can analyze data and help interpret spreadsheets and datasets. Microsoft also says additional Premium-exclusive AI features will be added over time.
One important limitation: the AI/Copilot Premium benefits belong only to the subscription owner. The other five people you share the subscription with still receive Office apps and their own 1 TB OneDrive storage, but they do not receive your Premium Copilot benefits.
Also, this is a consumer Microsoft account plan. It does not give you the business-management features from Microsoft 365 Business Premium such as Microsoft Entra ID P1, Intune, business Exchange mailboxes, centralized employee administration, or Defender for Business.
