Game Overview
A grim apartment building becomes the starting point for a deeply personal horror mystery, seen through the eyes of Sal Fisher, a quiet teenager known for his blue pigtails and prosthetic mask. Sally Face blends point-and-click adventure design with psychological horror, dark comedy, and a deliberately rough hand-drawn cartoon style that makes its nastier imagery hit harder. What begins with strange neighbors, a murder, and unsettling rumors gradually expands into a story about trauma, friendship, cult-like evil, and supernatural corruption. The mood is melancholic and unnerving rather than built around constant jump scares, with a cast that feels odd, damaged, and surprisingly human. Most of the time, players guide Sal through rooms, speak with tenants and friends, inspect objects, collect clues, and solve inventory-based puzzles that move the narrative forward. Conversations often reveal more than they initially seem to, so paying attention to names, personal histories, and environmental details matters. The main puzzles are generally approachable, making the game more focused on atmosphere and story momentum than punishing adventure-game logic, though optional secrets demand closer observation. Hidden mini-games, extra scenes, and obscure interactions reward players who revisit locations and experiment with Sal’s tools, especially his handheld game system and detective-like habit of documenting what he finds.
Its greatest strength is the way innocent-looking drawings and familiar suburban spaces conceal genuinely disturbing ideas. Sally Face tells its tale across episodic chapters, allowing mysteries to develop slowly before the larger supernatural picture comes into focus, and its soundtrack gives even mundane hallways a murky, uneasy energy. Players who enjoy the narrative dread of Fran Bow, the puzzle-driven investigation of classic point-and-click adventures, or horror that values emotional weight over action find plenty to like here. Newcomers can follow the central path without much friction, while lore hunters get a richer experience by chasing every cryptic detail.
