Beneath modern London, a hidden rodent kingdom wages its wars in the shadows of human civilization. Small Saga is a compact turn-based RPG about Verm, a stubborn mouse whose stolen tail sends him after the terrifying Yellow God of Death—despite every sensible creature knowing that gods are not meant to be challenged. The tone balances grimy alleyway fantasy, bitter class conflict, and sharply funny character writing, turning tiny animals with improvised weapons into unlikely revolutionaries. Its world feels medieval in spirit but is built from the discarded, oversized debris of the human world, where a drainpipe or kitchen utensil can become a landmark or weapon.

Verm travels with a party of eccentric rodents, each bringing distinct abilities and personalities to story scenes and battles. Combat runs on positioning, turn order, status effects, and careful use of limited resources, asking players to identify enemy weaknesses rather than endlessly farm experience points. Encounters focus heavily on bosses, including enormous creatures and bizarre opponents whose attacks require planning around telegraphed threats and changing arena conditions. Progress comes through advancing the narrative, recruiting allies, improving equipment, and learning how each party member fits into a small but flexible combat team.

Hand-drawn pixel art gives Rodentia a storybook look without softening its dirt, blood, or political anger. The scale contrast is the standout idea: Verm may be brave, but even ordinary animals and human-made objects can loom like mythic monsters from a mouse’s perspective. Rather than offering a sprawling sandbox, the adventure favors a deliberate, story-led pace with no filler grinding and a strong sequence of memorable confrontations.
