
The idea that women simply care about emotional cheating while men care about sexual cheating is too simplistic.
A national study involving 777 adults separated reactions such as anger, blame, jealousy, and hurt.
Both men and women showed greater anger and blame toward sexual infidelity.
But emotional infidelity produced relatively more hurt feelings.
Continuous measures also showed strong emotional reactions to sexual cheating among both genders.
So a woman's reaction can depend partly on which emotion you're talking about.
“Hurt more” and “angry more” aren't necessarily the same response.
