Researchers have investigated whether synchronizing with another person is partly an individual tendency.

In a speed-dating experiment, people differed in how strongly they synchronized physiologically with their partners.

Those individual differences were related to romantic attractiveness.

The researchers also tested participants on a completely non-romantic synchronization task.

People who were better at synchronizing socially also tended to perform better at synchronizing with an external rhythm.

The ability to naturally “get in sync” with others may therefore be a surprisingly stable individual characteristic.
