Several true lilies and daylilies can cause severe, potentially fatal kidney injury in cats.

The danger isn't limited to a cat deliberately eating an entire flower.

Leaves, petals, pollen, and even water from a vase containing certain lilies can pose a risk.

Because early treatment is critical, suspected exposure requires prompt veterinary attention rather than waiting for symptoms.

A beautiful bouquet can therefore contain a hazard many cat owners don't realize is present.
