Japanese publication S-Max discovered three devices in the IMEI database that match the standard naming scheme for the Xperia 1 series. The XQ-H44 smartphone will support eSIM only and will be released in Japan. The XQ-HH54 version is designed for Europe, and the XQ-HH74 is for release in other countries. The letter H in the name indicates the 2027 model year.
Industry experts consider the new model's early appearance in the mobile network registry to be an unusual move for Sony. For example, the Xperia 1 VIII was only added to the IMEI database in November 2025, while the previous Xperia 1 VII was added in October 2024.
