Washing produce immediately after buying it can leave extra moisture on foods that don't store well when damp.

For produce that doesn't require washing before storage, keep it appropriately dry and wash it under running water before preparation or eating.

Storage requirements vary by vegetable, so one method doesn't fit everything.

During humid weather, managing excess moisture becomes particularly useful.

A vegetable doesn't become cleaner in storage just because it was washed several days before you needed it.
