Airline baggage restrictions can involve more than kilograms.
Carriers may also impose maximum external dimensions, typically based on the combined length, width, and height of the bag. Oversized sporting equipment and unusual luggage can have separate handling rules.
A very lightweight suitcase can therefore still exceed an airline's standard checked-baggage allowance because of its physical size.
For air travel, how big a bag is can matter just as much as how heavy it is.
