Walking exposes dogs to constantly changing scents, sounds, surfaces, people, animals, and environments.
Sniffing is particularly information-rich because dogs use scent to investigate their surroundings. A slower walk with opportunities to explore can therefore provide substantial mental stimulation even when it covers less distance than a fast walk.
The value of a walk isn't measured only by kilometers or minutes of exercise.
