The edge of a ****** can sometimes be surprisingly sharp. Small convective showers can produce heavy precipitation over a narrow area while immediately adjacent locations receive little or nothing. Wind can further shift the falling rain beneath the cloud. This is why a road can occasionally transition from completely dry to soaking wet within a very short distance. Rain doesn't arrive as one giant uniform sheet. Sometimes, crossing the street can practically mean crossing into different weather.
